New York’s economy is in crisis. Our state is facing close to a $59 billion budget deficit over the next two years, and our communities are hurting.
A LEGALIZED, regulated cannabis market will
generate up to $20.4 billion in economic output over five years
to our state, creating jobs, helping fund vital programs and bolstering the safety of our communities.
New York loses up to $11.2 million dollars in revenue each day it doesn’t legalize cannabis.
Legal cannabis will:
- Produce a safer product by strictly regulating & reducing the reach of a hazardous unregulated illegal market.
- Protect our children by making it more difficult for underage New Yorkers to obtain cannabis.
- Build safer communities by freeing up resources to support public health and safety efforts.
- Provide much-needed revenue for New York’s budget.
- Create as many as 50,000 jobs in floriculture production, manufacturing, distribution, retail and ancillary industries.
- ECONOMIC IMPACT REPORT
A new report found legalizing adult-use cannabis in New York would provide substantial economic benefits to our state and local communities through new tax revenue, jobs and economic output.
